This is a temporary post until 31/03/2011 working within the Tackling Anto-Social Behaviour Project
DISC’s Independent Living Unit - provides a range of services to support and assist people with housing and accommodation related issues which includes support services for families, single people and childless couples who are faced with possible eviction and/ or anti social behaviour orders. We are now developing a similar service to cover other parts of County Durham. The aim of the project is to provide a challenging and assertive approach to anti-social behaviour through the provision of needs led support.
You will engage, assess and motivate clients to enable them to identify and resolve issues and behaviour which may jeopardise their current tenancies or ability to access safe and secure accommodation.
Ideal candidates will have a sound working knowledge of housing and accommodation issues, the Governments Respect Agenda and the welfare benefits system coupled with experience of effective partnership working and engaging and sustaining vulnerable people.
You will have well developed communication and presentation skills, commitment and flexibility together with experience of accurately maintaining client records, working to targets and, above all, a sense of humour. A relevant qualification, a working knowledge of the criminal justice system together with an understanding of the issues facing vulnerable people and families who exhibit anti social behaviour would prove advantageous.
