DISC Children, Young People and Families SDU provide a range of specialist services which support people with complex needs within a variety of community settings. Our programmes provide advice, guidance and support to address the issues which affect vulnerable children, young people and adults and include a range of educational and vocational preparation programmes. The project delivers a fully integrated service using the ‘Think Family’ approach to address alcohol use within families and tackle the effects upon the children and the issues associated with hidden harm.
Providing direct support to children and young people where alcohol misuse by an adult is adversely affecting family life, you will develop innovative programmes of support.
Ensuring young people are at the heart of family assessments, risk assessments and care plans will part of your everyday work as you engage with children and young people on a one to one basis.
You will use your knowledge of safeguarding, child/adult protection, common assessment framework and team around the Child to ensure the safety of those involved in the care plan whilst promoting awareness of the Hidden Harm agenda and Every Child Matters Framework.
The ability to work autonomously whilst part of a team and to engage with people in a partnership setting together with an understanding of housing issues, mental health or criminal justice would prove beneficial for this post.
