Progress To Work Project Manager, Northumberland
No two days are ever the same at DISC. I never get bored. My job allows me to draw on all the skills I've developed in the past and also explore new opportunities. I used to do similar work in the private sector but much prefer working in the voluntary sector. I like seeing time and money invested back into staff and service users. I think it's better value for money and more sustainable in the long run. I also like the culture of putting good ideas into practice. If you have a good idea DISC lets you test and develop it, and apply for funding.
For instance I do a lot of work with rescue dogs in my spare time. My office manager welcomes pets - after all Northumberland is a rural county. One day I took one of my dogs to work with me and told one of my clients all about it. As he stroked it he began opening up and pouring out his story. Now I'm working on an idea for further work with animals.
