About DISC
What is it like working for DISC?
Established in 1984, DISC is a leading North of England Voluntary Organisation which focuses on tacking deprivation and exclusion. It is our Mission to promote an inclusive society in which all people and communities matter.
As a people led organisation the skills, knowledge and passion of our 400 strong workforce enables us to put in place creative and flexible services to meet the needs of the communities in which we work.
Our diverse staff members come from a wide range of backgrounds and careers, but all share one common belief - that all people should have the opportunity to realise their potential.
We believe that all staff should have access to training and development to enable them to grow both personally and professionally. We hold the Investors in People award which is testament to our ongoing commitment to staff development and training – in the past year we held 268 staff training courses which created 2477 training places
‘DISC recognises the needs of different people and provides fair and appropriate access to the support that they need. This applies not only to staff development but is at the very heart of the organisation’
Communication is at the heart of our organisation and effective support is critical to our success. All staff participate in regular one to one supervision and support sessions, annual staff appraisals and team meetings which provide an opportunity to share good practice and enable peer support. In addition we hold regular Practice Development Groups which provide a forum to discuss practice issues and share knowledge with people from across the organisation.
‘Communication across the organisation is very effective. There is a clear structure programme of meetings that take place regularly and consistently…This process ensure that people are kept up to date and are given an opportunity for two way feedback.’
If you are looking to develop your skills, looking for new challenges or looking to progress your career, we can offer you a range of opportunities to help you along your chosen career path, together with a competitive remuneration package, a friendly and supportive environment and the opportunity to make a difference to the people and communities around us.
